Sudman Art
When asked to write an “artist statement” by the artist for his web site I thought it redundant. Obviously, his work speaks for itself.
His Zen does require some explanation, though.
When an object appears in the conscious mind it isn’t the object itself but an image of the object instead.
Nothing is ever as it appears.
His “realism” reveals the preconceptions we bring to what we consider familiar to us, the choices we make in assigning meaning to his choice of subject manner.

Harry Sudman studied under master painter Patrick Betaudier at the Atelier Neo Medici near Paris, 1978-1981.
He presently exhibits his work at Las Manos Gallery in Chicago and has exhibited internationally at “F.I.A.C “ at the Grande Palais in Paris, Art Expo Chicago, galleries in Soho, and various others cities over his career.
Thematically his recent paintings focus on the contemporary urban landscape of graffiti and posted street flyers.
The works in this Gallery isolate contemporary icons, painted hyper-realistically, against minimal backgrounds often grouped with multiple panels.
